History
American Tile and Terrazzo Company, Inc. was established in 1957 by Guiseppe (Joe) Lovisa, and three other Northern Italian immigrants who believed that through hard work and the terrazzo craft they could become successful businessmen in North America. In the late 1980s, American Tile and Terrazzo was reorganized to include second generation family and employees, and has since become the premier resource for terrazzo, tile, brick and stone flooring in the mid-south.
As people are added to the company, they learn the terrazzo craft through carefully supervised hands-on practice until they become fully capable craftsmen. Modern terrazzo is considered a specialty artisan-construction-craft that results in a unique and durable surfacing solution, and as such, is in high demand on commercial construction projects. The terrazzo craft requires the application of layers of materials while working in various environmental conditions using specialized equipment. Since there is no formal schooling for the terrazzo craft, our artisanal-craftsmen learn our trade by mastering a variety of skills within a mentoring culture unique to our company. Today, our craftsmen create attractive and durable walkways, floors, patios, panels and specialty installations by exposing chips of stone and other fine aggregates on the surface of finished concrete or epoxy-resin.
In 2016, American Tile and Terrazzo rebranded the company to better express the passion and skill required to produce the uniquely beautiful terrazzo surfaces we are best known for. American Tile and Terrazzo is now Terrazzo Masters. Licensed in Louisiana for commercial construction, the Terrazzo Masters not only create, install, and refurbish terrazzo and tile surfaces, they also assist Design, Architectural, and Construction professionals with product selection and building specifications. We utilize the latest technology, materials, and training, and follow guidelines set forth by respected terrazzo associations to provide unique and long-lasting solutions we can all be proud of. When Terrazzo Masters creates unique solutions for your commercial construction projects, the finished product must be representative of every artisanal-craftsman who has come before or will follow after us.
In 2020, the company was re-structured to include third generation associates. Colin Martin became a shareholder and officer.
